The Daydreamer's Gift: Why Imagination Matters
IMAGINATION

The Hidden Power Of The Mind
Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.
Albert Einstein
This is a powerful quote attributed to Albert Einstein. Regarding the importance of imagination.
Imagination is a powerful tool when it comes to the power of the mind.
This blog serves as a brief introduction to the topic of imagination.
We will explore the importance and use of imagination, and how it can be an amazing mental too if we decide to use it fully and wisely.
WHEN LOGIC HITS A WALL

How Imagination Breaks Through
Imagine this well known scenario (no pun intended). You are struggling to think, your mind seems to be a blank and for some reason you cant keep a stable train of thought.
No matter how much you try, no ideas appear in your mind. You appear to have a mental block.
This is where your imagination can take over. Instead of trying to come up with ideas, or force something out to work with.
Letting your mind go and essentially, day dream. Your mind can be let loose to come up with whatever it does.
This process is good for a couple of scenarios, really. One if you are looking for ideas and another for solutions to a problem.
Unlike logic that is looking for connections in a (more or less) linear fashion, imagination is not limited to that.
It does not follow any strict path, looking for connections, one after the other.
If anything, it can jump steps, back and forth and make connections or routes that may have not been seen from a logical point of view.
Its this freedom to move around and connect seemingly random things together that can spark ideas and realise solutions for a challenge.
Another thing that imagination allows you to do, is to give you pseud-forecast of future events based on the information you know.
This allows you to prepare or even problem-solve events, that have not arisen yet.
THE ARCHITECT OF INNOVATION

Why Imagination Matters
Throughout history, there have been various inventions, pieces of art and scientific breakthroughs as a result of imagination.
When it came to imagining how man could fly, is what lead to invention of the aeroplane.
Most forms of Art tends to be a physical manifestation of what the artist imagined. Bringing it to life through the medium of their choosing.
Even buildings stem from imagination.
The architect or designer, imagined and envisioned a building with ornate features or of a particular stature. Or to fulfill a purpose.
Because of this imagining, this building was able to be produced as a blueprint and then constructed in the real world.
So just think.
This world could be akin to a canvas (or computer game engine) and just through the imaginings of various people, it has been painted and constructed purely from imagination.
You are living in a world that has been imagined from all sorts of people.
Imagine that!
IMAGINATION
Humanity's Distinctive Advantage
Imagination appears to be one of humanities distinguishing feature. This is one of the features that separates us from other animals.
Some animals could have that feature, but humans have the ability to utilize it in a completely different way. To imagine various possibilities.
With this ever increase in computing technology, including AI. It can be easy to feel discouraged or feeling left out due to this technology.
But again, while AI can compute and calculate at speed. It cannot imagine. It cannot envision or imagine new or alternate things.
Only with information given before hand, can it speculate upon the information given.
Humans do not need information to imagine.
In fact, in many cases, the giving of information can limit and hinder imagination because it creates limits and constraints on the imagining.
Imagination tends to be a major factor when it comes to invention, art, music, films or scientific breakthroughs.
It is this creative aspect that allows people to go on towards major achievements for themselves and for humanity.
So let's keep this all in mind as we venture through this increasing speed of technology and innovation.
In a world like this, adaptability and creative problem-solving will always be needed. This is where imagination needs to reign supreme.
It could be worth your time to get back into the habit of day-dreaming. Get those imagination juices flowing.
Don't let the constraints of the world squeeze that out of you and confine you into structure of just logic, more knowledge and following trends.
Use your imagination to break out and create trends.
Create and imagine the direction of the world you want, and take it there!
Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.
